That's Not My Neighbor
About That's Not My Neighbor
That's Not My Neighbor is a 2D horror game combined with a job simulation, taking players back to 1955 as the gatekeeper of a mysterious apartment complex. Your mission is to distinguish the real residents from the dangerous doppelgängers who are always lurking to blend into the building.
That's Not My Neighbor - When Fear... Comes From The Neighbors
Set in 1955, the world in That's Not My Neighbor is not dominated by the Cold War or rock 'n' roll, but instead is haunted by the Doppelganger. These creatures have the ability to perfectly imitate humans, from appearance, voice to part of their memories, with the dark purpose of infiltrating buildings and "handling" real residents.
You play as a new gatekeeper, receiving a mission from D.D.D. (Doppelganger Detection Department). The job sounds simple: let the real person in, stop the doppelganger. But in reality, it is a challenge of intelligence and nerves of steel. A wrong decision will not only cost you your job, but can also make you and the whole building become dinner for the impostors.
Unique Gameplay - Horror And Administrative Procedures
What makes That's Not My Neighbor so irresistible is the bold blend of horror atmosphere and meticulous administrative work.
In the cramped security room, you will have "inseparable" tools:
- Resident List (Checklist): A handbook that records complete information about each resident, from room number, occupation, to identifying features. Check it constantly!
- Security Window: Where you come into contact with the "neighbors". Observe carefully! An extra eye, a mole in the wrong place, or a strange hole in the skin... are all deadly clues.
- Telephone: When in doubt, don't hesitate to call D.D.D. or the resident himself to verify. But be quick, because sometimes waiting will make the other person mad.
- Emergency Button: When you are 100% sure that it is a doppelganger, firmly press this button to "handle" it immediately.
- Hatch: Where you receive identification documents from the person standing outside the door.
The gameplay revolves around checking IDs, comparing information, observing appearance and making a decision: LET IN or REFUSE. It sounds simple, but the pressure of facing someone who looks exactly like a real person, along with the ticking clock, will make you sweat.
The Cast - Friendly Neighbors And The Evil Impostors
The Neighbors
They are normal, harmless people who should be safe in their own homes. The game builds a list of extremely lively residents, each with their own background, profession and personality, spread over 3 floors:
- Floor 1: The Stilnsky family (Accountants/Housewives), the Peachman family of shoemakers, businessman Angus Ciprianni and the Sverchtz model twins.
- Floor 2: The Scmicht couple (Writers/Bankers), reporter Izzak Gauss, seamstress Margarette Bubbles and the Mikaelys sisters (Chefs/Students).
- Floor 3: Teacher Mia Stone and physicist Dr. W. Afton, milkman Francis Mosses, the Rudboys, the father and son pilots, and the Cappuccin couple.
They sometimes forget their hats, forget their access cards, or give a small detail about their schedule wrong. Your job is to protect them, not to wrongly accuse them!
The Doppelgangers
These are the soul of the game. They are sophisticated, cunning, and scary. Some of the younger ones will show obvious flaws (like having three eyes, sharp teeth) and will be angry when rejected. But the older ones are almost perfect, with only one extremely small detail wrong (a mole upside down, a detail on the ID that doesn't match). They will use all kinds of tricks, from flattery to intimidation, to get inside.
Conclusion
